The Joint Trade Unions believe that it is time that the
Company started to be straight with the employees on the Newcastle
site.

The Union's believe that outsourcing of the services carried out in
Newcastle will have a detrimental impact on the quality of the
service whilst at the same time putting loyal employees on the ever
increasing dole queues.
The fact that National Grid is considering to allow work to be
off-shored is totally amoral. National Grid is a British
company that makes profit from British consumers and should be
committed to supporting its British workforce.
GMB and Unison call for immediate negotiations over creating a
centre of excellence in Newcastle.
The Unions are committed to working with National Grid to
further improve the excellent service provided by the Newcastle
workforce.
The Unions believe that in creating a centre of
excellence which could allow those who want to exit the business to
leave, whilst at the same time give permanent employment
opportunities to long suffering agency workers, many of whom have
worked for years for National Grid without proper contracts of
employment.
