When 189 GMB members jobs came under threat of being outsource by National Grid GMB immediately set up a campaign website called National Greed (www.nationalgreed.co.uk). The company was quick to demand that the embarrassing website which documents the company’s management’s wasteful behaviour be shut down or legal action from expense lawyers would follow. GMB refused to shut down the site and nothing happened.

GMB has now discovered that National Grid has been buying up every possible embarrassing domain name.

Gary Smith, GMB National Secretary said, “GMB is willing to sell the National Greed domain name to National Grid at the cost of the 189 Newcastlejobs. A small price to pay and probably a giant saving as the company can then stop spending customers money on buying up every possible related domain name that might cause them the least embarrassment.”
