To:      ALL UNION MEMBERS – NATIONAL GRID, NEWCASTLE

Dear Colleagues

Thank you to all the union members who took the time to meet with me today. My colleague from Unison,  Mike Jeram,  could not attend the meeting,  but I was speaking for us both. Mike Jeram and I will continue to work closely together to support our members and Regional Officials in the fight to ensure the Newcastle site has a future. As I explained we are already putting pressure on Government and OFGEM to ensure that the efficiencies the regulator demands are not leading to jobs being exported from the UK.

As I explained,  we have an opportunity to argue the case for keeping jobs in-house. Discussions will no doubt be difficult and there may be change that we will have to consider down the line,  but at least we have a chance.

It is important that members at Newcastle continue to present a united front to the company. It is our trade union organisation which has allowed us to at least have a fighting chance.

I will be inviting Mr Holliday to come and meet you all. I hope he has the courage!

Best Regards

Yours fraternally
